The Padma Purana is one of the eighteen most important Mahapuranas in Vedic literature. This Purana covers a wide range of subjects about ancient Vedic society, its traditions, customs, places, and sacred rituals. It is considered one of the main sources of worldly and spiritual religious knowledge, as it details with many details the principles of dharma (duty and morality), establishing meritorious activities and their due rewards in this and the next lives, as well as punishment for sinful activities both here and in the hereafter, thus highlighting a kind of traditional Indian canonical law.
The Gita Mahatmya is part of the Padma Purana, located in the section called Uttara-Khanda, the concluding section, which extols and glorifies the importance of the Bhagavad-gita (a sacred text within the yoga tradition), describing the spiritual benefits and the importance of reading, studying, and practicing its teachings.
The Gita Mahatmya is composed of a series of stories and narratives that demonstrate how reading and applying the teachings of the Bhagavad-gita can bring peace, wisdom, and spiritual liberation to devotees.
I came across this wonderful text in which Shiva explains to Parvati the mystical powers of the Bhagavad-gita. Throughout the series, we have seen the power and glories of each of the Gita's chapters in memorable stories.
I would like to thank
Firstly, I thank Krishna for the gift of having made this series. And the students Thaís Gimenes and Rosanna Beltrão for the organization and creation of this website.
